Listed Companies Information

The ASX operates a market for securities issued by listed companies. To protect the integrity of that market, ASX has standards for the behaviour of listed companies through its Listing Rules. The Issuers business unit makes day-to-day decisions about the application of the ASX Listing Rules. Guidance notes are also published to assist listed companies and their advisers to understand how certain listing rules and procedures operate.

ASX Listing Rules

ASX Listing Rules, Appendices and Guidance Notes are available in electronic format.

Checklist for Constitutions of Listed Entities (PDF 163KB).  Entities are requested to complete this checklist and provide it to ASX when submitting their constitution for review.

ASX periodically proposes amendments to the Listing Rules. The most recent changes, as set out in an Overview Document and Exposure Draft Proposed Listing Rule Amendments were released in June 2007.

The Listing Rule Waivers Register details when ASX has exercised its discretion in the granting of Listing Rule Waivers.

Supervision of companies

The reputation of ASX's markets for fairness and integrity is very important to ASX. Maintaining this reputation involves constant and vigilant supervision of companies.

Institutional investor seminars

ASX is involved in a wide range of investor education activities.  Small and medium-sized companies often suffer from a lack of institutional investor awareness.  ASX runs and takes part in seminars that bring companies, institutional investors and brokers together in a forum that encourages fund manager interest in mid and small caps.  These seminars usually take the form of CEO showcase events - where over a period of one or two days, CEOs are given the opportunity to present to funds managers and brokers about their latest developments.  Events are usually industry and sector based.

Reporting for mineral resources and ore reserves

The Australasian Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) code provides guidance on reporting of reserves and resources by mining companies and is internationally recognised and imitated. The Code has proved highly effective and is integral to the fundraising success of the mining industry.

Corporate Governance

The ASX Corporate Governance Council has developed a set of guidelines, Principles of Good Corporate Governance and Best Practice Recommendations.
