Helen Lofthouse

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director

Helen Lofthouse commenced as ASX’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in August 2022. She is an accomplished financial markets executive with more than 20 years’ experience in cash equity and debt markets, listed and OTC derivatives, and clearing and settlement services.

Helen joined ASX in September 2015 and has held senior executive roles with the company, including Group Executive Markets - ASX’s largest individual business by revenue - and before that, Executive General Manager of Derivatives and OTC Markets. In these roles, Helen was responsible for ASX’s cash and derivatives trading, including equities, interest rates, commodities and energy products, ASX’s international business development teams, benchmarks, and derivatives and OTC clearing.

Prior to joining ASX, Helen was a Managing Director at UBS (2011-2015) with global responsibility for the OTC clearing business and Head of Clearing and Execution Sales in Europe. She also worked at J.P. Morgan in London (1998-2011) in various businesses including futures and OTC clearing, derivatives prime brokerage, credit markets and cash equities. Her earlier career involved project management and technology consulting.

Blair Beaton

Group Executive, Listings

Blair Beaton joined ASX in 2017 as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and was appointed Group Executive, Listings in August 2022.

In this role, he leads the team responsible for the origination of listed primary and secondary equity, and investment products.

Blair has more than 25 years of experience advising boards and CEOs in Canada and Australia, working at investment management firm Challenger Limited as Head of Strategy and M&A, and advisory businesses PwC and Capital West Partners, an independent Canadian corporate finance advisory firm.

Dan Chesterman

Group Executive, Technology and Data

Dan Chesterman joined ASX in 2017 and was appointed Group Executive of ASX’s Technology and Data business in July 2021.  

In this role, Dan is responsible for ASX’s Technology and Data businesses, which include the data products ASX distributes (market data, reference data, benchmarks and indices, and DataSphere), as well as ASX’s data centre and connectivity services businesses, including the Australian Liquidity Centre (ALC) and ASX Net. Dan is also responsible for ASX’s enterprise data strategy and platforms, the ASX Synfini DLT-as-a-Service offering and a team that focuses on disruptive technology and innovation. 

Dan has extensive domestic and international financial services experience based on a 25+ year career spanning banking, technology, consulting and delivery in regulated markets across AsiaPac, Europe, North America and the UK. 

Jane Franks

Chief People Officer

Jane Franks was appointed Chief People Officer in November 2023 and is responsible for developing a people and culture strategy that enables ASX to achieve its vision and strategy.

With over 20 years of experience in highly regulated industries, Jane is an accomplished leader having led significant transformation programs across a range of industries and markets. Prior to ASX, she had over 16 years’ financial services experience in senior HR roles at Westpac and its autonomous wealth management arm, BT Financial Group. Most recently, Jane spent seven years in consumer products as Chief People Officer at ASX-listed Blackmores and as HR Director at Diageo.

Daniel Moran

Chief Compliance Officer

Daniel Moran was appointed Chief Compliance Officer in October 2022, responsible for admitting new entities and quoting new products on ASX’s equity market, monitoring and enforcing compliance with ASX’s rules by listed entities and investment product issuers, enforcement action against participants for breaches of ASX’s rules, and related guidance and education activities.

Daniel joined ASX in 2010. He was appointed Group General Counsel and Company Secretary in October 2017, responsible for ASX’s Legal, Company Secretarial and Regulatory Policy functions. Prior to that, he was Deputy General Counsel, working across the ASX businesses with a particular focus on ASX's corporate functions, transactions, and listings and issuers.

Johanna O’Rourke

Group General Counsel and Company Secretary

Johanna O’Rourke was appointed Group General Counsel and Company Secretary in January 2023, having acted in the role since October 2022. In this role, she is responsible for ASX’s Legal, Company Secretarial and Regulatory Policy functions.

Johanna joined ASX in January 2021 as Deputy General Counsel, working across ASX's business and functional lines with a particular focus on ASX's corporate, strategy, technology and data, listings and issuer functions.

Diona Rae

Chief Operating Officer

Diona (Dee) Rae joined ASX in May 2023 as Program Director, Delivery, to provide additional capacity and enterprise focus for ASX’s delivery and regulatory programs. She was appointed Chief Operating Officer in August 2023 and is responsible for the Enterprise Customer and Operations function, including project delivery, customer, brand and marketing, digital, and regulatory reporting.

Dee brings extensive experience in regulatory remediation programs and a proven track record delivering large, complex transformation, technology and risk initiatives. Before joining ASX, Dee was most recently Executive General Manager, Privacy Program Delivery with Commonwealth Bank. Prior to that role, Dee was the Chief Controls Officer for the bank’s Enterprise Services Group, leading line 1 risk management for the bank’s technology and operations functions. 

Andrew Tobin

Chief Financial Officer

Andrew Tobin was appointed Chief Financial Officer of ASX in September 2022. In this role, he is responsible for ASX’s Finance, Treasury, Investor Relations, Strategy, ESG and National Facilities functions.

Andrew has more than 30 years’ experience in various group finance and audit roles in Australia and Asia. Prior to ASX, Andrew was CFO at Challenger Limited (2012-2021), responsible for numerous operational areas including finance, investor relations, treasury, operations and information technology. He was Deputy CFO before that and has also worked at CBA, MLC and KPMG.

Hamish Treleaven

Chief Risk Officer

Hamish Treleaven was appointed Chief Risk Officer in March 2017. He is responsible for designing and implementing all aspects of the risk management framework that ASX uses to operate and manage its business.

Hamish has extensive experience in financial markets risk management across all asset classes and product types.

Prior to joining ASX, Hamish was the Executive General Manager of Portfolio and Market Risk Management at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he worked from 2005 to 2017, with responsibility for risk management oversight of the Global Markets and Group Treasury businesses and for group-wide risk quantification for both regulatory and economic capital.

Clive Triance

Group Executive, Securities and Payments 

Clive Triance was appointed Group Executive, Securities and Payments, in August 2023. He is responsible for ASX’s cash equities clearing and settlement businesses; ASX’s settlement and depository business for the wholesale debt market; ASX Collateral, payments, and financial settlement management (FSM/Sympli); issuer and post-trade investor services; and overall executive responsibility for the delivery of CHESS replacement.

Clive has more than 30 years' experience at major financial services organisations in the UK. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Head of Strategic Account Management at FIS, a leading technology provider to the financial services sector with a global workforce of more than 60,000 people. 

Tim Whiteley

Chief Information Officer (effective 1 July 2023)

Tim was announced as ASX’s new Chief Information Officer in May 2023, following the creation of a stand-alone ASX technology division.

In this role, Tim is responsible for ASX’s enterprise technology strategy and technology modernisation program; technology security and governance; technology infrastructure; and core technology functions of enterprise architecture, solutions engineering, quality engineering and testing, system integration and critical situation management.

Tim is a highly skilled technology transformation executive with more than 25 years' experience in technology and project execution roles in the financial services industry. He has a proven capability running core technology functions and delivering large-scale, complex technology transformations.

Tim joined ASX to lead the CHESS Replacement Solution Design work in November 2023.

Prior to ASX, he was General Manager of Westpac’s Customer Service Hub program, Consumer and Business Banking (2020-2022), a position he held concurrently with his role as General Manager in Westpac’s Group Technology division (2015-2022).

Darren Yip

Group Executive, Markets

Darren Yip was appointed Group Executive, Markets in March 2023. He is a highly-skilled executive who brings more than 20-years’ experience in global financial markets with a background in prime brokerage and equity markets. 

In this role, Darren leads the Markets team which is responsible for ASX’s cash and derivatives trading including equities, interest rates, commodities and energy products, benchmarks business, and derivatives and OTC clearing.

Having spent 12 years leading teams in the Asia Pacific from his base in Hong Kong, Darren was most recently with Morgan Stanley as Managing Director and Co-Head of Prime Brokerage from 2013 to 2021.
