ASX 24 Interest Rates Futures Volumes 

Trading activity across the ASX 24 Interest Rates Futures complex has increased in February 2025 compared to February 2024. Contributing factors include the domestic monetary policy decision to lower the target cash rate, coupled with global macroeconomic volatility over the month. AUD 90 Day Bank Bills up 34% pcp with traded volume at a record high. 10 Year Bond Futures up 48% pcp, 3 Year Bond Futures up 22% pcp, and 30 Day Interbank Cash Rate Futures up 42% pcp. In aggregate, open interest is up 11% pcp to 3.99mn across the ASX 24 Interest Rates Futures complex.

The ASX’s New Principal Trader Program lowers barriers to entry for corporations and individuals that have not traded in the ASX 24 market for two years. This consists of a 100% rebate on the exchange trade fee when transacting certain ASX futures and options contracts.
