Electricity futures and options contracts to gain and manage exposure to Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) and New Zealand’s wholesale electricity market
The NSW, Queensland, Victorian and South Australian contracts are now available for trading. The new contracts are designed to reflect the primary periods of operational demand in the National Electricity Market and provides more granular hedging and trading opportunities.
ASX lists a range of Futures and Options Contracts over both the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) and the New Zealand Electricity Market.
In Australia, ASX Electricity Derivatives are listed for trading on the Australian state regions of NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. In New Zealand, ASX Electricity Derivatives are listed for trading on the New Zealand nodes of Otahuhu and Benmore.
All ASX Electricity Futures and Options Contracts are cash settled on contract expiry. This enables participants such as and banks to participate in the financial market and contribute to market liquidity without a requirement to own physical generation assets.
